Federal Minister of Building visits the Bosch Home Comfort Group

Guided tour of the heat pump production in Eibelshausen for Klara Geywitz

The Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction, Klara Geywitz, visited the site in Eibelshausen. Jan Brockmann CEO of Bosch Home Comfort Group welcomed the minister, the parliamentary state secretary Sören Bartol, Dagmar Schmidt (MdB) and other regional politicians on the plant site. The Federal Minister's visit to Eibelshausen took place as part of her summer trip. The focus was on the energy transition in the German building sector and the expansion of heat pump production in Germany. Indoor units for heat pumps have been manufactured in Eibelshausen since the beginning of 2023.
Together they went on a tour of the still young heat pump production at the site. During the tour, the minister was impressed and very interested in the products and the new production line. The entire visit was accompanied by many questions and in-depth discussions.

"We are investing one billion euros by the middle of the decade in our European development and manufacturing network for heat pumps with sites in Germany, Portugal, Sweden and Poland"

The indoor unit, manufactured in Eibelshausen, has an integrated 180-liter hot water tank and a 16-liter buffer tank. It allows quick installation on an installation area of only 0.36 square meters.
The matching outdoor unit is manufactured in a European production network at HC's sites in Tranås, Sweden, and Aveiro, Portugal. It arrives at the customer's site as a complete system. The new generation of heat pumps runs on the natural refrigerant R290, propane. Propane has a low greenhouse gas potential and ideal thermodynamic properties, enabling the heat pump to achieve particularly high energy efficiency and higher flow temperatures. Thus, propane as a refrigerant in heat pumps enables a future-proof and sustainable heat supply.
The Eibelshausen site has been in existence for more than 400 years, making it one of the oldest industrial operations in Germany and the oldest site in the Bosch Group. Hot water tanks for Home Comfort have been produced here since 2007. The establishment of heat pump production is an important step in the site's transformation. More than 400 people are now employed there.
