History

The Bosch Home Comfort division is responsible for all activities involving heating technology and hot-water solutions. The division has a number of major international and regional Home Comfort brands and supplies people with state-of-the-art technologies worldwide. In times of scarce energy resources, the topic of efficient heat generation is of existential importance. Innovations from Bosch Home Comfort Group have been setting trends for centuries.

  1. 1932: Acquisition of Junkers & Co.

    Junkers Cerapur 9000i

    Junkers & Co. (founded by Hugo Junkers on July 2, 1895) was acquired in Dessau/Germany by the then Robert Bosch AG (today Robert Bosch GmbH). From 1.11. Introduction of the burner logo (flag burner).

  2. 1953: Relocation to Wernau

    Fuel cell

    With around 800 employees from Stuttgart-Feuerbach to Wernau. Junkers now manufactures gas central heating appliances and control and safety equipment for gas appliances (Controls).

  3. 1974: Junkers Division of Robert Bosch GmbH

    Energy Plus Home

    On July 1, in the course of a reorganization, those domestic companies in which Robert Bosch GmbH holds a 100 percent stake are taken over as divisions of Bosch. The Junkers company becomes the Junkers division of Robert Bosch GmbH.

  4. 1988: Vulcano Termo-Domésticos

    Condensing boiler

    Vulcano (founded in 1977 in Aveiro, Portugal) becomes part of Robert Bosch GmbH.

  5. 1992: Worcester Group plc

    First wall-mounted gas-fired bath boiler

    Robert Bosch GmbH acquires a majority shareholding in the British Worcester Group plc (founded in 1962), including the Belgian heater manufacturer Radson.

  6. 1996: e.l.m. leblanc

    Foundation of Buderus

    Acquisition of e.l.m.leblanc (founded in 1945) by Robert Bosch GmbH. In 1994, e.l.m leblanc acquired the Breton company Geminox (founded in 1987).

  7. 2004: Merger of Bosch and Buderus

    Foundation of Buderus

    After Robert Bosch GmbH had acquired a majority shareholding in Buderus AG (Wetzlar/Germany) in July of the previous year, the first steps were taken to merge the heating technology activities of Bosch and Buderus (founded in 1731 by Johann Wilhelm Buderus). On August 2, "BBT Thermotechnik" was entered in the commercial register.

  8. 2004: Nefit

    Foundation of Buderus

    Together with Buderus, Nefit (founded in 1897 as "Automatic Screw-Works (A.S.W.)" has been part of BBT Thermotechnik since 2004.

  9. 2005: IVT

    Foundation of Buderus

    Acquisition of IVT Holding AB in Tranas/Sweden (founded in 1968). Sale of Edelstahlwerke Buderus AG.

  10. 2007: Expansion into the USA

    Foundation of Buderus

    Acquisition of the US manufacturer of electric heat pumps "FHP Manufacturing Company", in Fort Lauderdale/USA.

  11. 2008: Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH

    Foundation of Buderus

    BBT Thermotechnik renamed Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH.

  12. 2009: Loos Germany GmbH

    Foundation of Buderus

    Bosch Thermotechnik takes over "Loos Deutschland GmbH" in Gunzenhausen / Germany (founded in 1865) as well as its foreign subsidiaries and holdings as of August 3, 2009.

  13. 2023: Bosch Home Comfort Group

    Foundation of Buderus

    Change of name from Bosch Thermotechnik to Bosch Home Comfort Group as of April 1, 2023.

  14. 2025: Largest acquisition in Bosch's history

    Acquisition of the residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business from Johnson Controls and the acquisition of the Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning joint venture as of August 1, 2025.
